Pasta maker service
The pasta maker, a Marcato Atlas 150, was giving off such a terrible squeaking when used. Disassembling it, the cause was found to be dried out grease.
Disassembly
First, remove the lid of the thickness setting dial. The lid is a press fit and a thin, sharp screwdriver can be used to carefully work the lid out of the dial cup. Watch your fingers and take care not to scratch the surface of the lid or the dial cup.
An alternative way would be to insert a steel wire shaped as an L into one of the holes in the back of the cup. This way it should be possible to press the lid off from the inside of the cup.
The bottom plate is held together by four screws:
Remove one black screw on each side of the machine to remove the side caps:
The frame is held together by two long bolts with nuts:
The parts fit in holes in the legs of the frame:
The cause of the squeaking was this failed lubrication. The shaft is eccentric and is used together with the thickness setting dial to change the distance between the rollers:
The shaft can be carefully cleaned and if necessary fine grained sanding paper can be used for polishing off any scoring of the shaft. Finally, the shaft should be lubricated with a thin layer of grease.
